Tavistock Wedding Fair – Event Review

I spent my Easter Sunday networking with some rather lovely wedding suppliers in a rather lovely venue – the Tavistock Town Hall

Organised by Amour Exhibitions, the event ran from 11am until 4pm, and although not a strictly vintage event, I still found some wonderful vintage wedding inspiration to share with you all!

I live blogged from the event, so if you missed any of my posts, you can check them out here –

All images in this post were taken by me {Laura from Dotty Vintage Weddings} and I do ask that you request permission before using them elsewhere. I can provide the original versions upon request should you wish to use them for your business.

The first and most lovely supplier that I’m delighted to have met at the fair is Bluebells and Nightingales. Penny & Peter provide beautiful, personalised linen for weddings and events. Their range includes bespoke linen, napkins, towels, dressing gowns, gift sets, and a range of bridal accessories too!

Another new face at the fair for me was Deborah from Dartmoor Flowers. This event was Deborah’s first wedding fair, but you wouldn’t have known! Her table was a gorgeous representation of her work, and she also collaborated with several wedding suppliers to decorate the stage area, which you can see later in the post.

Jan, from Devon Vintage China, undoubtedly has an eye for vintage styling, and has the most amazing collection of hire items and venue decor. Jan provided vintage crockery and accessories for the stage, which looked simply stunning. I would personally recommend Jan; I’ve been fortunate enough to cross paths with her several times, and she is a truly lovely lady, capable of providing that very special touch on your most important day.

Entertainment

I’m always a big fan of entertainment and music at wedding fairs; it can really make or break a day in my opinion. There was a big contrast between the acts that performed on Sunday. Katie McClaughry is a hugely talented harpist (and trumpeter!), and the calming tones of her harp suited the acoustics of the venue perfectly.

Later in the afternoon, we were then treated to an acoustic performance by Jack Rabbit. They covered a range of chart hits, but with a cool, contemporary vibe that got people on their feet during that sleepy afternoon slump!

Venue Decor

One of the biggest visual highlights for me was the stage area. It made a great focal point to the room, and the collaboration between Faithful Designs, Devon Vintage China & Dartmoor Flowers worked extremely well.

Danielle, a very close friend of mine, from Faithful Designs had an exquisite table display, along with debuting some beautiful new chair covers and table runners, made from Broderie Anglaise and hessian fabric, providing a rustic alternative to a wedding tradition. Faithful Designs can provide venue decor hire, stationery, chair covers, sashes and table decorations.

Oaktree Occasions

I met a lovely new outside catering company called Oaktree Occasions, which is run by Jo & Caroline, two highly experienced restaurateurs. They operate from their base Okehampton, but cover the majority of the South West for outside events, weddings, and other celebrations.

Truly Scrumptious also attended, and had some fabulous retro sweeties on their bright and beautiful table display. They have a shop in Saltash, Cornwall that is definitely on my list of places to visit very soon!

I really enjoyed the wedding fair, and I’m thoroughly looking forward to my next live blogging event –

The Weird and Wonderful Wedding World Show – 13th April – Bristol!
