Kate and Catherine run the wonderful Lavender and Linen and are situated in the Cotswolds. I was lucky enough to catch up with Kate to discuss their business and lots of vintage loveliness…
When did you start the business? Who’s behind the scenes?
Catherine and I started the business in 2011 on a bit of a whim one Monday morning over coffee and cake – we are two friends who met at our local NCT class five years ago and swiftly bonded over lack of sleep!
What inspired you to start the business? And why vintage?
Catherine and I have always loved vintage china and glass and we were both looking for something to compliment our part-time ‘day jobs’. As we both have small children, we wanted something that we could work around them and allow us to use our creative sides, and to be honest, indulge our love of all things vintage.
I’m organising a rustic and quirky wedding – are you the right supplier for me?
We love rustic and quirky, as well as glamorous and sophisticated and everything in between. We have an abundance of lovely vintage china and glassware, as well as a whole heap of styling tips and suggestions to really make every detail of your wedding stand out. We love really getting to know couples and their own style so we can perfect their dream vintage wedding. It’s the little details that really matter to couples and so they do for us too.
This next set of images (two above and two below), were shot by Alexa Loy Photography. Lavender and Linen provided the beautiful vintage accessories and hire items, and styled the table for the shoot. The location was Anyhoe Park.
Can you give me a quick overview of the products/services that you can offer?
We hire vintage china and glassware – from pretty teacups and saucers to decadent champagne saucers and decanters – something to suit every taste and budget. Our styling consultations are perfect if you know you want a vintage style wedding but haven’t got a clue where to start – we meet over tea and cake and chat over your likes and dislikes.
We then go away and put together a Pinterest Board – www.pinterest.com/lavenderlinen – for you and make notes on suggested styling touches. The £50 fee for this is refunded if you decide to use us further in your wedding designs. We also offer vintage hire and styling packages in conjunction with Stephanie Saunders Flowers – a sort of one-stop shop where we can take care of all your wedding styling.
Which areas of the UK do you cover?
We are based in the beautiful Cotswolds, but are prepared to travel wherever we’re needed!
Can I find you at any events this year?
We have just exhibited at two wedding fairs – Love & Lace Vintage Fair in Sapperton and Ingleside House in Cirencester. We will no doubt be appearing at other venues soon – we always keep a list of events on our website so couples can see what we’re up to and where they might be able to come and see us.
