Gwel an Mor – Vintage, Rustic, Cornish

Picture this. Rugged Cornish landscape. Reindeer and birds of prey. Vintage bridalwear and accessories. Some of Cornwall’s most talented wedding designers and suppliers. Sound good? Then you’re in for a real treat.

These breathtaking images were taken at the luxury 5* resort Gwel an Mor, which is nestled on the North Coast of Cornwall, just a short drive from the fishing village of Portreath. Sarah Falugo is originally from Cornwall, and currently works between here and Miami. Sarah works alongside her partner Bear, and their work has been featured a wide range of publications and exhibitions; it’s not hard to see why.

The project at Gwel an Mor is a true collaboration of Cornish talent; there are only two suppliers who don’t originate from Cornwall. The project was styled and coordinated by Sarah, and Lucy Jenner-Brown, a fabulous Cornish based PR agency.

The vintage dresses for the photo shoot were provided by My Vintage Affair. The styling is effortless; the hair by Number 8 Hairdressing, and Makeup by Suzi Winter, compliment the outfits beautifully.

A silk scarf offers a great alternative if you’re seeking out a more rustic style for your groom. You can find some other examples on this post – Vintage Attire for your Groom

I adore the boots and short wedding dress; the lace dress is delicate and girly, but boots demonstrate how this look could be adapted for the winter months.

The stationery featured was designed by Charlie Scribble, who offer unique and bespoke wedding stationery.

“Charlie Scribble was founded to rebel! Rebel against generic wedding stationery that is. And to provide our lovely couples with stationery that is personal to them and their wedding {not to them, and them over there, oh and them too}”

The tables, with mismatched accessories, and flowers from The Blue Carrot, break away from the traditional wedding mould.

I was delighted to see that one of my favourite wedding designers in the whole wide world was involved in this spectacular shoot. Holly Young Hats, and you can see more examples of her work on this featured Dotty Vintage post, provided several accessories including this lace and chain headpiece. It offers a real injection of vintage glamour.

The Blue Carrot originated as a market garden, but quickly blossomed (excuse the pun!) into a thriving business. With organically grown blooms, straight from the garden, expect vibrant, unique arrangements with a vintage twist.

If this shoot isn’t enough to inspire you to get married in Cornwall, then I don’t know what is! I consider myself to be extremely lucky to live and work in this part of the world. I’m in the middle of planning for my own wedding too, and our potential (but extremely likely) venue is also on the North Coast of Cornwall. I must say a huge congratulations to all of the suppliers and designers involved in making this shoot come to fruition; the images are some of the most unique I’ve ever stumbled across.
