Bessie is a fabulous Vintage Caravan and is part of a new and rapidly expanding venture for Karen Evans.
Karen left her executive business role in March of this year with the desire to start a business that combined her love of food, Kitchenalia and the countryside.
Bessie has only been available for hire since August 2012, but already wedding bookings are in place for 2013. Karen considered the existing resources that were available to her, including –
“A seaside restaurant (Aqua 43) that has been in the family since 1972, a small holding with horses, goats, chickens and ducks, plus numerous wild fruit bearing hedgerows, and wealth of local food producers in the area – the idea of a vintage caravan that served goodies from the countryside was developed.”
If you’re planning a vintage wedding, then Bessie could be the perfect addition. For your Hen Do, why not organise a fabulous afternoon tea? You and five hens can enjoy homemade cakes and sandwiches with adorable bunting and vintage crockery.
On the wedding day itself, you could hire Bessie to serve champagne and cocktails for your guests arriving, or set the caravan up as a quirky photobooth, complete with props! Wedding Favours, including sweets, vintage tea cups/cupcakes and miniature brandies can be provided for your guests if required. Bessie can also be used for your younger wedding guests for special activities to keep them occupied throughout your wedding day.
Bessie is not only great for weddings, but for a whole range of other celebrations too.
“Bessie can be hired for birthday parties, anniversaries, Mother’s Day, baby showers, Christenings – the list is endless and really as varied and individual as those who hire her. Based in Kent but Bessie can travel anywhere with good access in the South East. At all events, the aim is to make sure guests have a special time they will always remember.”
The other alternative is to visit Bessie’s home.
“A 33 acre small holding near to where Bessie lives can be used in the spring and summer months for romantic picnics or a camping party for those who wish to bring their own tents.”
You can visit for afternoon tea or for an evening of relaxation. You can have lovely homemade produce provided including local cheese and savoury snacks, and wine/cocktails too. Or, you can even bring your own drinks.
Karen has a Masters Degree in Early Years, is fully CRB checked, and has years of working with children and families. For that reason, she also offers special events for children.
“Special events for children can be booked where they can learn the basics of pony care and tuck into a scrumptious tea in Bessie. Bessie can also be seen at local events selling vintage wares, baskets, cakes, savouries, sloe gin and fruit brandies (Christmas puds, cakes and mince pies at this time of the year). Orders can be taken for home delivery or a vintage tea party can be set up in your own home / venue with all the china and bunting included. “
Three words to sum up Bessie: Unique, adorable, cosy!
