Little Largo Jewellery is based in central Scotland and is designed by Haldis Hughes in her workshop near Stirling. The new website was launched in June 2012 but Haldis has been producing jewellery for around the last ten years, with a particular flair for metalwork.
Haldis ensures she only uses quality gemstones, pearls and Swarovski crystals, and each item is truly unique. The designs range from simplistic and chic, with some vintage inspired pieces too. Each piece of beautiful jewellery is handcrafted with superb detailing and is of the highest possible standard.
I had the difficult task of selecting some of my favourites from the collection, which is challenging when you love every piece!
First of all, I picked this beautiful Bermuda Heart Necklace. The striking combination of the oxidised sterling silver, with its smoky hue, and the bold blue Swarovski heart could look beautiful at a Winter wedding. It is also available in bright silver, and retails at £20.00.
The earrings below are available for just £13.00 and remind me of a Spring day. The blown glass baubles are a gentle, calming green and have once again been adapted with oxidised sterling silver. The ear wires have actually been crafted to mirror the shape of the baubles.
Some of the pieces in the collection are clearly inspired by the vintage trend. Birds have always featured in the vintage theme; with bird-cages, feathers, and motifs running through many designs. The swallow is commonly used and is considered to be symbolic of a safe journey home. The earrings below could make a perfect engagement present for someone, indicating the journey they are about to undertake with their new partner.
My final choice from the collection is a beautiful oval locket with a concealed pocket watch inside. It has been adorned with a lovely dragonfly and flower detailing on the locket itself. It retails for just £18.00 and could be a unique gift for someone special, or just a treat for yourself.
In a market that is so often saturated with poor quality products, it’s wonderful to see a jewellery designer who clearly invests a great deal of time, effort and passion into her designs.
